The Four Horsemen of the Abdominal Apocalypse

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are described in the last book of the New Testament of the Bible.

2. You train your abs every day–as wrong as the big bang theory for a Christian, because your abs need more than 24 hours to recover from a good workout (if you train them well).

3. You change programs too often–deadly! Even elite athletes need at least 3 weeks to adapt to a new training program.

4. You don’t follow any program and you train “by feel.” Don’t get me started on this one =)

leg raises

I’m sure you’ve seen a lot people do leg raises:

Did you know most people do them wrong? They make two deadly
mistakes:

1. They lower their legs all the way down, as in image 1 (left).
2. They don’t lift their legs all the way up, as in image 3 (right).

You should lift your legs above your hips because the abs pull the
hips, no the legs.

That’s also why you shouldn’t lower your legs all the way down:
this works out your psoas and iliacus muscles (two muscles in your
hips), and not the abs.

Here’s how to do them well:

For example, in this exercise, the lower abs are relaxed when your
legs are down (image 1). To work them out well, you’d better just
go from knees up (image 2) to knees to the chest (image 3) and back
to knees up (image 2). Never lower your legs completely (image 1):
this relaxes your lower abs.

A fair warning: it’s on the Hydroxycut Hardcore website. They’ll

probably try and make you think Jay got huge-ripped using

Hydroxycut. In my opinion, it might be because he’s got the

testosterone levels of a thousand men. /end warning.

Funny thing: Jay apparently does Rope Crunches, an exercise I

recommend in my Pulley Secrets for Six Pack Abs course.

I’ve noticed he does them standing. In my course, I teach another
way to do them that actually hits your lower abs more. If you’re

Bruce Lee’s favorite abs exericse (photos)

If there’s one dude we can’t argue has rock-solid six pack abs,
it’s Bruce Lee:


Bruce Lee had a killer six pack

And these abs are not just for show: they needed to be strong
and powerful so Bruce could kick and punch like lightning.

So it’s no surprise the ab exercise Bruce Lee popularize is
one of my favorite.

It’s called the Dragon Flag, and it’s hard as hell:


The Dragon Flag builds isometric strength in your abs like nothing
else. If you think you’ve got strong abs, try it out. But please
don’t break your back.

It’s the only abs exercise I know that can pull your gut in and
give you flatter abs.

The Cat Vomit Exercise

Unless you purchase a corset concurrently, doing crunches shouldn’t
pull your abdomen in. The muscle fibers of the six-pack (rectus
abdominis) run vertically. The muscle you desire to target instead
is named the transverse abdominis (TVA), the deepest of the six
main abdominal muscles, that is composed of fibers that run
horizontally like a belt. The TVA is nicknamed the " corset
muscle," and in case your abs have ever ached from laughing or
coughing, you’ve felt it working.

Unfortunately, laughing repeatedly inside the gym will get you a
straitjacket or a plate to the pinnacle, so here’s the other:

1. Get on all fours and keep your gaze focused either directly
under your head or slightly in front of you. Don’t arch your back
or strain your neck.

2. Forcefully exhale from your mouth until all air is fully
expelled. Your abs must be contracted from this forceful exhale.
Full exhalation is critical to contract the transverse abdominals,
and you’ll use gravity to offer resistance.

3. Hold your breath and pull your belly button upward toward your
spine as hard as you will for a target of 8-12 seconds.

4. Inhale fully throughout the nose after the 8-12 second hold.

5. Take one breath cycle of rest (exhale slowly out the mouth,
inhale slowly during the nose), then repeat the above for a total
of 10 repetitions.
